Roman, I am actually Douglas' DAD-I coached @ Wheaton College in Mass. for 7 years and another University in Boston for 3 years. I also coached High School for 3 years and Coached an International team In Scotland-Belfast-Dublin-London and went undefeated.
I am also the Director of Basketball Operations for ELEVATION SPORTS. It's a recruiting program for HIGH school Basketball Players-We actually Just had one of our members-EB DAVIS-RICKY DAVIS' Little brother-visit DUQUENSE UNIVERSITY and will most likely commit to them within the next few weeks.
My son Douglas uses my e-mail address , but My JOB consist of teaching,lecturing and learning about BASKETBALL-NOT A BAD WAY TO MAKE A LIVING.

Roman-If I listened to what people told Me when I was Your age I would have never accomplished anything. I started HIGH SCHOOL @ 5'0" 95pds.In Boston Public School back in 1981 they only had varsity sports. We had 385 people trying out for 18 spots. 381 were African-American and I was one of only 4 white kids,but I made it and stuck with it. By the start of My JUNIOR year I was 6'0" 160 pds. I graduated and received a Basketball Scjolaeship to a D2 school and it was great!
I was not the best player,in my opinion, I worked real hard and NEVER UNDER-ESTIMATED ANYONE! I averaged 12 pts. and 12 assts a game my senior YEAR.BUT I Could really play defense. I could lock down the best of them.
COLLEGE COACHES are looking for players that will WORK hard and do whatever it takes to make the TEAM BETTER!
Right NOW the MVP of the NCAA tourn. is MIKE CONLEY-OHIO STATE-He has kept them in every game when ODGEN(SP?)gets in foul trouble. He is a terrific offensive player but He has a sense for the ball on DEFENSE!
At the college level everything gets charted-a big one that YOU SHOULD BE AWARE of is DEFLECTIONS-How many times You get Your hand on a pass-someone dribbling,or even a loose ball. Remember the shot clock does not reset and now the OPPOSITION has about 11 to 14 secs to enter the ball set a screen and get a shot-probably not a GOOD SHOT.
I have a son that is 15 years old and has played varsity for two years and started this year. He works on his game every day but when He wants my advice about basketball I do not give it to HIM as his FATHER but as a COACH Because HE Needs to KNOW WHAT TO WORK ON. He was to go D1 but whatever level He gets to play at (D1-D2-D3) He will have earn on his own. He is a straight A student in all AP courses.He brings His school work to the gym where I work and will shoot for two HOURS do home work for One and a HAlf hRS. and than LIFT Weights for 45 mins to an HR.
I do not force HIm -he does it on his own.
Whatever level YOU get the chaNCE to play at DO IT and DO IT WELL! Also, the first question I ask a possible recruit is "HOW ARE YOUR GRADES?"Put the work in on both areas-THE CLASSROOM and the BASKETBALL COURT!!
DO that and NO ONE CAN TELL YOU THAT YOU WILL NOT BE SUCCESSFUL!
